As the Soviet Union collapses, the conflict nears a community of ethnic Estonians living in Georgia, many of whom flee in terror. Remaining behind, however, is a carpenter named Ivo, who decides to help his neighbor harvest his tangerine crop before the fighting reaches them. As the war approaches and the conflict takes place before their very eyes, Ivo finds a survior on the battlefield – a wounded Chechen man named Ahmed. The two villagers take the wounded man home and decide to bury the rest, but suddenly, in the middle of the burial, they realize that there is another survivor - a young Georgian soldier. They place him under the same roof with Ahmed.
