Sixteen years after the release of the groundbreaking film RIVERS AND TIDES – ANDY GOLDSWORTHY WORKING WITH TIME (2001) director Thomas Riedelsheimer has returned to work with the artist. LEANING INTO THE WIND – ANDY GOLDSWORTHY follows Andy on his exploration of the layers of his world and the impact of the years on himself and his art. As Goldsworthy introduces his own body into the work it becomes at the same time even more fragile and personal and also sterner and tougher, incorporating massive machinery and crews on his bigger projects. Riedelsheimer’s exquisite film illuminates Goldsworthy’s mind as it reveals his art.

The way Goldsworthy views the world in such a raw and personified way is truly inspiring. To those of us who are not as rooted in nature he does seem quite odd. But his artwork is proof that there is beauty in the unusual.

I saw the description and thought "this is really not for me." I was wrong. absolutely loved it. Nature wins out in the end and human time on earth is limited. And Goldsworthy's art pieces are impermanent. I got the feeling he realizes that. The filmmaker had to really have the connection and understanding of nature that Andy Goldsworthy has. That showed time and again in the composition of his film shots. Someone commented that the pace was slow. Just right for me. beautiful!

A delightful and intimate view of nature, but a much more precious view into the awesome function of the human brain.

Fascinating study of an audacious artist...In a sense. Goldsworthy is literally an Impressionist, leaving impressions of himself on pavement and stone. Director and cinematographer do a superb job of introducing an inventive artist to a wider audience.

I fully expected to fall asleep through this film after reading the flyer. Didn't! Absolutely fascinating film that engaged me from the beginning and kept engaging me with its beauty. Every frame was so exquisitely done: colors, shadows, angles, textures -- so memorable.What is best is the journey we take with Goldsworthy, whose genius sees in man and nature what most of us miss.

Such a thoughtful, meditative film. Beautifully filmed and narrated by the artist - I smiled all the way through. I really appreciated the way the different forms of art making were woven together and played off one another - the beauty of Goldworthy's dialogues with nature that make us see freshly - captured by gorgeous photo and film framing - the slow pacing worked SO well with the entropic, ephemeral process that form his astonishing work.
