Feeling disenchanted with life after retirement, Mitch, a brassy former surgeon, convinces mild-mannered Colin, his ex-brother-in-law, to holiday with him in Iceland. The pair set off through Reykjavik ice bars, trendy spas, and adventurous restaurants in an attempt to reclaim their youth, but they quickly discover that you can’t escape yourself, no matter how far you travel. Land Ho! is a bawdy road-trip comedy as well as a candid exploration of aging, loneliness, and friendship. Wonderful Laurel & Hardy-esque road trip. It's charming the way the audience learns about the guys. Nice unfolding and interlacing. Very reflective of aging and retirement. Most disappointing? Wanted the guys to walk into the spa at the end buck-naked.

At the beginning, I wasn't sure I would like the film but quickly was pulled into caring about the characters and finding them believable. Humor, fabulous scenery added to the film. One of the few good male relationship movies!

I loved this film, found it quite funny, charming and ultimately touching. Yes, Mitch was obnoxious, sexist and juvenile, but also occasionally sweet and vulnerable. The depiction of male friendship with a long history felt so authentic.

As a 55-year old father of many, I found this film to be uncomfortably thought-proving. 'Growing old' is not for 'sissies' is a quote that comes to mind. One of the fears involved with growing old is the fear of asking yourself, 'Is this all there is?' (after being a 'producer' in society.
